Appliance Manager

The Device42 Appliance Manager is a separate administrative interface that runs on port 4242 (HTTP) or 4343 (HTTPS). It provides low-level controls that are not available in the main Device42 UI, including backup and restore, certificate management, network configuration, and log generation for troubleshooting. Use the sidebar to navigate to specific topics.

Backup and recovery — Set up scheduled or on-demand backups to local storage, SFTP, NFS, or Amazon S3. Restore the appliance from a backup file, and configure Warm HA for automatic standby failover. See Set Up Backup, Device42 Restore, and Warm HA Setup.

Security and network — Enable HTTPS, manage TLS versions, upload SSL certificates, set the FQDN for web access, configure an HTTP or HTTPS proxy, and add additional network interfaces to the VM. See Enable SSL, Set Up HTTPS Certificate, TLS Versions, and Add NICs.

Troubleshooting and support — Generate log bundles or SNMPwalk output to send to Device42 Support, generate IPMI output for hardware-level diagnostics, and delete history logs to free up space. See Generate Log Bundle, Collect SNMPwalk Output, and Generate IPMI Output.

Appliance settings — Change the appliance hostname, configure session timeouts, install VMware or XenServer tools, set API rate limits, and manage Pendo guided tours and usage data collection. See Change Hostname, Session Timeout, and API Limits.
